Class bloggers: Braden and Noah C.
This week we moved on from electricity, in science, and went to magnetism! On
Tuesday, we had a lab about magnets, and MAGNETIC SLIME!!! Also in social
studies we had a small acting job where we had to act out a landform like a lake,
harbor, isthmus, etc. Along with another acting job we did Thursday about a
particular biome, we got assigned and had to act out the weather in different
biomes. As you probably know we also had a half day on Wednesday! Then on
Thursday, we had our first quiz in science on magnetism vocabulary words.
We also had part of our personal narratives due Thursday, just as a checkpoint.
Along with all of that we had a memory test on Friday. Then on the last day of the
week we went on our very first FIELD TRIP of the year to a mound of nuclear
waste rocks in Weldon Springs, Missouri, and last but not least we went bowling
after Weldon Springs, we’re planning on it being a fun day. We had a spelling test
was on Thursday, and our tellalation art is due on Friday the 27th of September.
Hope you have a great day, from 6th Grade.(:

THANK YOU PARENTS - We had a wonderful field trip today. I so appreciate the support of the parents who were able to give us their day to make it possible. Lots of photos below!
A.R.
reading test progress and STAR test results came home today. Several students have yet to
take their first test. This would be good to have ready for Monday, our midquarter.
The last day for tests in the first quarter is Oct. 28. Meeting the 16 point goal counts as an "A" for 1/3 of the
Literature grade. The STAR assessment is one way to view goal areas for your child. Not all AR books need to be within the Zone of Proximal Development as our Literature textbook provides our challenge reading- "dessert" reads are OK. We will take 2 more STAR assessments this year in January and May.
Walkathon this Friday!!
Students will remember - but just so you know, Friday is a dress down
day for our Walkathon. Students may wear athletic bottoms (appropriate
length on shorts please) and Bobcat Spirit shirts. The walkathon will
occur in the afternoon.
*wear sunscreen (watch the weather - a light jacket if rainy??)
*may bring hat, sunglasses, water bottle, lanyard for mileage card
*Lunch in classroom - no peanut butter please! (Hot lunch still available)
Students, keep gathering pledges and consider a self pledge! You may
wish to ask some of those Zion friends who no longer have kids here to
sponsor you as well. If you need a new or additional pledge sheet, see
me on Monday. Sheets and Monday due AFTER the Walkathon on Oct. ___.
