Week 30 Powder Valley Field Trip

We had an amazing day for a field trip yesterday.  Students learned about “critter scene” investigation and how forensics are used to solve mysteries.  We had a lovely hike through the woods looking at the emerging new growth from the dead of winter.  Mrs. Arens did a great job helping the students learn to observe.  We even discovered fungi!! The nature center had amazing hands-on displays learning about Missouri wildlife and  conservation.  A great place to go back as a family!    Thanks again to the parent drivers who took time out of their day to chaperone.

Check out the Google Photo link Chaperones, you may add any photos you took.

Our Win At Social Thursday was about the benefits of play and including others.  Here are the Family Huddle questions:

  • TOSS UP: What's the game or activity you love playing the most with your friends? Why is it your favorite?

  • COACH UP: I heard you're learning about making sure everyone feels included during sports and playtime. If you could create your dream playground, what would it look like? Tell me about the features, games, and activities you'd include to make sure everyone can join in the fun.

  • HUDDLE UP: If you ever feel left out during a game or activity, what can you do to let others know how you feel and find someone to talk to for support?

Next Week:

Achievement Testing - I reminded the kids to get good sleep and eat breakfast each day

It’s also a good week to meet AR goals as there is likely to be less daily work.

Week 28 Grandparents Day!

Thanks to all the Grandparents and Special Friends who came to spend time with us today.  We loved playing games with you and showing off our school.  You hold a special role in shaping our young people - we honor that role and cherish the memories we create together.  I hope I got your picture with your grandchild, but I know things were pretty busy in our classroom!

Our 7th graders led worship with a wonderful chancel drama and sign language message of how we run this race of GRACE not alone, but with God on our side.  Be ready for your students who will get to lead worship next year for GP day!!

There are lots of events in the Friday Email from the office.  I wanted to highlight the poetry night at Immanuel, St. Charles next Friday.  I was blessed to be a parent chaperone at the Lutheran Youth Gathering in New Orleans last August and Tanner Olsen was one of our mass event leaders.  The youth were mesmerized by his down to earth poetry.  He really connected with young people and helped them focus on faith in the challenges of every day life.  I highly recommend attending one of the events hosted there next week.  See the flyer below.
