Research Papers Returned
Research papers were returned to students on Tuesday. I was very impressed with the quality of the information students found and application to the Social Studies themes of culture or geography. Students demonstrated success in the process of narrowing a very broad topic down to a specific thesis and finding support on that topic. This is the first year at Zion where students basically work independently on each phase of the research process. I am proud of their accomplishments. Students may still conference with me individually regarding their papers if they did not sign up for a time this past week.
Acolyte Training
Students in 7th and 8th grades at Zion have an opportunity to serve as acolytes. Training for this opportunity will be Wed 4/25 5:30-7:00 p.m. or 4/27 3:00-4:30 p.m. Contact Kimber Smith to sign up or with questions.
Poetry in Literature
As part of our poetry study, students will be selecting a poet to research. Students will need access to poetry books, the internet, and a piece of poster board (any color - needed by Thursday) for the project. Posters will be worked on at home. A reading of one poem will be part of a presentation to the class.
