Religion:
We have been following Saul's and David's stories and to apply the
petitions of the Lord's Prayer to our lives. Last week we looked at "and lead us not into temptation." We saw David's downfall and
how God led him to repentance. We rejoice in God's love and grace! We are wrapping up "thine is the Glory" by giving God the glory in a faith project: building awareness among our schoolmates about our chapel offerings.
Literature:
We have begun a non-fiction unit with a look at a war diary and expository essays on breaking the color barrier in baseball. Your child may have lots of questions about the Civil Rights movement as we viewed a clip from a documentary today in class. I am steering students who are interested toward some excellent historical novels.As we study non-fiction, we look at structure (chronological, compare/contrast, ...) as well as styles (essay, biography, narrative...).
English:
After our short story unit, we are working with adjectives and adverbs. As part these units, students will learn advertising techniques and create our own products to "sell." At the end of 3rd quarter we will start research papers.Social Studies:
