A big thank you to Izzy's dad for sharing about his job with Stauder Technologies. He talked to us about Global Information Systems and how maps are used in all aspects of life, from our phone giving us directions to watching lake levels and areas of drought around the country and even military surveillance.
Did you know...
whenever you hit record on TikTok, your latitude and longitude are recorded?
St. Louis is one of 2 cities that have the largest GIS surveillance capabilities? (not sure if I said that right)
your video games depend on maps?
during COVID, maps have been used to see where sick people were located?
Thanks so much, Mr. L, for sharing some cool information with our classes!!

This week we did advent practice and practiced all out songs.
We also are doing photography art and we searched around Zion
for ideas for our art pictures. Mrs Donner wanted our help with her
homework and so we used a digital notebook for science and used
a website to learn about cells. The week went by fast but we still had
many fun things we did. We took a science test and a social studies
test.

Sport Stacking (also known as Speed Stacking or Cup Stacking) is a sport in which specially designed cups are stacked in specific patterns as quickly as possible. It has been called a “track meet for your hands” and not only improves eye-hand coordination, but also academic learning. “Students that sport stack on a regular basis have shown increases in test scores and levels of concentration. When students sport stack they are crossing the "midline" of their bodies and developing new connections in their brains. These new connections help to spur brain growth which in turn promotes greater academic achievement.” Not only that---SPORT STACKING is FUN! To find out more about Sport Stacking please go to www.speedstacks.com.
