Week 25: Lent begins

For it is by GRACE you have been saved through faith and this is not from yourselves it is a gift of God, not a result of works so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

Lent began this week with Ash Wednesday.  In our memory study of the Lord's prayer we see how God cares for our every need.  Our class devotion time now will focus on Christ's amazing love for us -  that he would come to this earth and take our sins on the cross. During Lent I try to recommit myself to personal devotions and prayer.  This is a time to focus on Jesus and His great love for us.  Jesus gave His life so that I can live.  See the amazing artwork below that Pastor Rouland shared with us during chapel this week.

Instead of giving something up for Lent, I challenge my students and you to try doing the opposite and add something ... maybe commit to Wednesday night church, attend Sunday School, be a prayer partner with a classmate, do personal devotions, do family devotions, or make weekend worship a priority in their family. 

 

I know your faith life will be strengthened.

On Monday we had a religion test. On Tuesday we played pillow polo in PE.  Also on Tuesday the girls basketball team won vs Immanuel 22 to 9. On Wednesday there was a chapel. It was Valentine's day and Ash Wednesday so we got crosses from the palm branches ashes on our forehead.  On Thursday there is also PE again. And after school there is picture day for Yearbook pictures. And on Friday there is NO SCHOOL! Also on Monday it’s president’s day so also No SCHOOL! That’s a four day weekend.

Scholastic Book Fair - March 8-10

Zion will sponsor the book fair again this year.  Our class browsing/shopping day will be Wednesday, March 8.  Coming soon will be the chance to set up an e-wallet for your student. 

If you want to sponsor our class library, you can contribute to my teacher e-wallet.  I will also put a few choices into a book bin at the fair that you can purchase and donate to our class.

Grandparent/VIP day March 8 - Permission slips came home Thursday   Please sign and return next week so we can plan accordingly
