From the class blogger: By Lauren
This week was national Lutheran schools week. Monday was PJ day. We
watched The Phantom Tollbooth and had snacks. Tuesday was Fashion
disaster day. Everyone dresses really weirdly. Wednesday was a snow day.
We had the day off. Thursday was around the world day. We gotta dress up
like we are from different places. Then Friday is ultimate spirit day: dress
up in your spirit shirt or if you play sports then wear your jersey! This week
has been a blast, I can't wait till next week!
FIELD TRIP NEWS!!
Save the date of Wednesday, Feb. 22 for our next field trip! We are headed to Grandel Theater for a debut production of Spells of the Sea by the Metro Theatre Company. Plans are in the works for an afternoon tour location as well. Once that's confirmed, I will send out permission slips and seek parent drivers. We will leave at 9:00 a.m. after chapel and return by the end of the school day.
Since this is a ticketed event, space is limited for parents. It is helpful if you have a large vehicle and can take 4 or more students. Please let me know if you are able to drive. Background/driver checks may need to be updated.
JH Winter Dance- Feb 3.
The 2023 Winter Dance theme is “Turn Back the Clock”! The dance is scheduled for Friday, February 3 from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. The entry fee is five dollars per person, and if a student is dropped off, they cannot be picked up before the dance is over. Expect your student to “turn back the time” and wear an appropriate costume from the past (decades’ day) or wear jeans and a nice shirt**. There are going to be teachers taking pictures, snacks, and music playing. Make sure that your student knows to be dropped off in front of the commons, the actual dance takes place in the gym, and that the doors will be open by seven.
**In middle school dances are very informal - a social "hangout" time. I have talked with several students about not bringing "dates" to the dance. Mr. Debrick will stop by the class this week to share expectations.
Valentines Party is Tuesday, Feb. 14. Bringing Valentines is OPTIONAL. If you need a class list, see the Class Info tab. Thanks to our moms for providing treats and games!
