Week 29 (3/28) Servant Event News and Jr. High DANCE

Mar 27, 2025

BY Hayden and Josh

Yo! We have had a normal week but the only odd thing was no social studies or English block this week. Because of Miss Tomlinson coming in and talking to us. We started the book The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. In gym we are playing ultimate frisbee. G math is learning ratios. And T is learning to divide fractions. This week we had health screenings. We got our shine shirts and found out about our project. Thanks for checking out the blog! 😀

Week 28 (3/14) Grandparents Day!

Thanks to all the Grandparents and Special Friends who came to spend time with us today.  We loved playing games with you and showing off our school.  You hold a special role in shaping our young people - we honor that role and cherish the memories we create together.  I hope I got your picture, but I know things were pretty busy in our classroom!

Report cards came home on Thursday.  This is a good time for you to help your child reflect on their successes and set goals for our last push in 6th grade.  Here are some ideas:

  • Excellence in work - double checking writing for complete thoughts, answering all parts of the question.   PROOFREADING
  • Handwriting/neatness
  • Using the assignment planner!
  • Asking questions
  • Taking good notes
  • Being a peer helper when someone doesn't understand a topic
  • Reading a book over Spring Break
  • Make a new friend with someone you still don't know well
  • Starting personal devotion time

4th quarter brings some of my favorite topics next!  I feel so blessed to be a part of your child's life and look forward to this last quarter of learning and growing together.

Don't forget to ask what digital projects or homework they could show you.  So much is not on paper anymore.  Your child has a lot to be proud of!

Have a blessed Spring Break!

Sue Riemenschneider

Week 27 End of 3rd Quarter - Field Trip News (3/8)

It's been an amazingly fast 3rd quarter!  I am absolutely loving the time with these students.  Challenging them to grow in their knowledge and ambitions as well as tackling the day to day struggles with temptation and sin - what a blessing to be able to look to our Lord and see the call to repentance and his open arms of forgiveness!

Lent season, Holy week and Good friday ...
Lent begins

Lent began this week with Ash Wednesday.  In our memory study of the Lord's prayer we see how God cares for our every need.  Our class devotion time now will focus on Christ's amazing love for us -  that he would come to this earth and take our sins on the cross. During Lent I try to recommit myself to personal devotions and prayer.  This is a time to focus on Jesus and His great love for us.  Jesus gave His life so that I can live.

Instead of giving something up for Lent, I challenge my students and you to try doing the opposite and add something ... maybe commit to Wednesday night church, attend Sunday School, be a prayer partner with a classmate, do personal devotions, do family devotions, or make weekend worship a priority in their family.

I know your faith life will be strengthened.

Families - if you have a loved one who lost their life in the Vietnam war, please send their name on to Mrs. Riemenschneider by May 1.  We would like to honor them by locating their name on the wall.

Win at Social

On Thursday, your child's class ran the #WinAtSocial Lesson Living by our family’s values and speaking up. As you have time, continue the conversation at home about these important modern-day life skills. Consider encouraging your child to coach up and share their ideas. Here are some questions you can pose to everyone in the family:

    1. TOSS UP: Every family has different things that matter to them. Can you think of 3 things that matter a lot to us, even if they’re different from what other families do?
    2. COACH UP: Can you tell me about times when your friends or others challenged our family values and wanted you to do something you weren't comfortable with? How did you handle it?
    3. HUDDLE UP: How can we support a friend whose family values do not match ours? For example, if we have sleepovers but they are not allowed, how can we help them to not feel left out?
