Happy Easter

His Victory Is Our Victory

How wonderfully refreshing this time of year is! There may be a chill in the air, but after months of winter darkness we have  longer days to light our lives. Trees bloom. Cheerful birds  boast to each other early in the morning making it impossible to sleep late with open windows.

It’s the perfect season to celebrate Easter. The darkness of sin and death chased away by The Light of the World. New life blooms. Angels boast of victory and pass the bragging rights on to man.

Can you imagine the joy people felt as the good news was absorbed? Can you imagine the joy people felt as they had opportunity to pass that good news along to others? A hymn asks if you were there when they crucified the Lord. Imagine being there on the third day!

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
Matthew 28:5-7

In worship, in person, and even by emails we have reason to boast with joy, “He is risen!” And then reply, “He is risen, indeed! Alleluia!”

May Begins!

It amazes me that we are in the final stretch already in the school year.  I am excited to be back.  This is one of my favorite times of the year to teach.  As May gets into full swing, we conclude the year with some of my favorite units.  In Literature we will look at poetry and oral tradition.  We will end the year with an emphasis on mythology.  In Social Studies we be exploring Latin America.  Students will be looking at current events issues as well as be introduced to early civilizations in this region.   In Math we delve into more Geometry concepts as well as build on fractions and their applications, such as ratios and probability.    In Religion we will return to portions of Matthew that look at his miracles and their application in our lives.

It's a busy time of year. It's an exciting time of year.  It's time to build on the skills we have learned throughout the year and use the gifts God has blessed us with to his glory.
