Week 31: 6R Spririt Week

Well - we survived our first full week of E-learning.  God is Good!  He is helping us navigate new territory and keeping our community save.   Whatever the devil and this world throws our way we know, "I can do all things through him who gives me strength!" Phil 4:13

 I will still update my blog weekly.   Students are getting daily check-in email and To Do lists on Monday and Wednesday.  Friday is a scheduled Lit Book Club Google hangout but otherwise a "catchup" day with no new HW.  Send me emails or please phone me with questions.  Let us know if you need more support -  if you need another device at home, Zion still has some you can sign out.

Some of your children will need you to sit down and help them make a plan for their "school" day.  Others are more independent.  If your child is spending more than 3-4 hours on "school" in a day, they may need help.  We are giving 3 assignments in each core area a week (Religion, Math, English, Lit, SS, Sci)

 My favorite sentence for students:

Google is not your teacher!!   (They keep asking about their score when Google scores a form - Google can't account for misspellings, capitals, or variations of an answer).  TRUST US - teachers are looking at assignments and generously grading them. We want them all to succeed!!

Need books??  I will still order!!   With the libraries closed right now, don't forget online check out and audio books.  I will place a Scholastic Book Order on Wednesday.  Class code: GV2FP.    I will get the books to you at home when they arrive. (I need to get my kids out of the house and book delivery sounds like a nice afternoon drive!!)  6th grade flyers

Kids - I will honor your $5 Christmas coupons.  Just email me the title.

Week 30: Zion at home: E-learning

Thank you to our wonderful students and parents who have been active online, answering emails, and asking questions.  No one could have imagined what our world is going through or that we would be holding Zion classes this way.  I liked President Trump's comparison to a country at war - we are at war against this Coronovirus and all of society has to adapt. We may be inconvenienced.  We may need to rethink how we study, learn, shop, and interact with one another, but we have God who loves us very much and is in control!!  I love and miss you! Mrs. R.

Psalm 46 1-7
God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
    though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
    though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
    God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
    he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress
