LENT BEGINS

For it is by GRACE you have been saved through faith and this is not from yourselves it is a gift of God, not a result of works so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

Lent will begin this week with Ash Wednesday.  After our memory study of the Lord's prayer and how God cares for our every need, we now focus on Christ's amazing love for us -  that he would come to this earth and take our sins on the cross. During Lent I try to recommit myself to personal devotions and prayer.  This is a time to focus on Jesus and His great love for us.  Jesus gave His life so that I can live.

So instead of giving something up for Lent, I challenge my students to try doing the opposite and add something ... maybe commit to Wednesday night church, attend Sunday School, be a prayer partner with a classmate, do personal devotions, do family devotions, or make weekend worship a priority in your family.

I know your faith life will be strengthened.

Zion invites you to Lenten worship each Wednesday at 3:30 and 7:00. (Dinner served between services)

Week 24 Kid's Heart Challenge

What's new in 6th grade?

Religion -  Humiliation and Exaltation of Jesus!!  That's looking at Christ's nature as true God and true Man, how he fulfilled the Law perfectly to be our substitute in His death and in glory defeated

the devil in His resurrection.  (See RELIGION tab above for update on unit 6)
S.S. Our Asian studies have been looking at the IT industry that connects American businesses
to India.
Math - G-Math ratios   T-Math multiplying and dividing fractions Note: iReady has great math games if

your child is looking for a little something to do on the long weekend.

English - PRONOUNS

SCIENCE - Human body

Lit. - Our nonfiction unit began with a war diary, Lincoln biography and autobiography of Beverly Cleary.

We read an historical essay on Jackie Robinson, so we took time to study a bit of the Civil Rights

Movement (minus some glitchy internet)  I hope  you take the opportunity to talk about important

moments in history and how we are all equal in God's eyes.   After our Civil Rights video we

watched Speak Life by contemporary Christian artist, Toby Mac.

Week 23:Valentines Day and LOTS of EVENTS!!

February 11, 2022 Autumn and Ryleigh

Today we had our valentines party. This week we got 5 letters from other schools around the nation, and today we sent ours. This week nothing different happened, however next week we are having our jump rope for heart day. If you donate 5 dollars you get to wear athletic clothing,, and if you donate that and another 15 you get a shirt to wear. I would recommend donating 5 dollars if you haven’t already! This week for art we are camouflaging animals into a natural habitat. We can use different materials to get the effect we want. This week for literature we are writing letters to our 18 year old self. We will get them mailed to us when we are 18. That is all the special stuff for this week. Ry will write next week with Caileigh! Bye!
