Week 20: Drama Time!

From the Class Blogger: January 21, 2022    Sophia

This week was fun and exciting! On Tuesday we acted the Phantom of the

Tollbooth class, and we brought props. On Wednesday we lead the chapel

service. The chapel service was about the fruit of the Spirit, and how each

part of the body makes all one in the body of Christ. On Friday, Mrs. Donner

assigned a new fun art project. The art project was paper mache with water

 and plaster.

FRIDAY will be a MOVIE DAY!!  On Jan. 28 we will the movie version of the play we read:  The Phantom Tollbooth.   Kids can bring in a peanut-free snack and drink (soda allowed) to enjoy during the moving.  What a great way to end Lutheran Schools Week!

 Looking for a good read?

Mark Twain Nominated books are a great way to get AR points for the 3rd and 4th quarter. If your student reads 4 of these nominated books, they can actually vote for which books wins the award in our state. Contact your local library, and place some of these books on reserve. They are chosen by librarians as some of the best new books.  I've read 7 so far and they are all good!

Use the website for more info on specific books.  NOTE: The 2021 Winner Blended will be a 6th grade novel read in February.   Mark Twain Booklist    Mark Twain trailer video

Week 19: End of 2nd Q

How exciting to finally see a little snowfall!   As I am typing this I am watching the white take over the lawn out back and I am reminded of a verse from Isaiah:

...Though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.   Isaiah 1:18

How wonderful a reminder that all our sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus.  All God sees when He looks at us is Christ's perfection!

End of 2nd Q

Students celebrate the halfway mark of 6th grade!  I am so proud of their hard work.  I see growth in so many ways.  Teachers are finalizing grades and report cards come home next Friday.  It is a good time to sit down with your child and ask of what they are most proud.  We are enjoying lessons on drama, fractions, long division, adverbs, Asia, genetics and how the Holy Spirit works in our lives.  So much learning going on!

We are also designating our chapel offerings for Jan 19 and Jan 26 to go to their Global Kid's Fund. Through LHM;s ministry centers in Kenya and Madagascar, kids will receive backpacks filled with pens, paper, workbooks, other school supplies and a Christian book sharing the Gospel message

A gift of $15 will provide one complete kit of a backpack and supplies..
Let's see how many backpacks we can fill!
