Seeing
changes outside, but wonder what is happening inside the walls? Lots!
Mark Lekar, Marc Debrick, and others will be conducting tours to members and
school parents interested in seeing the progress inside the school’s
construction zone.
The
tours will take place this Sunday, April 27 from 10:30 – 12:30 pm
The building will be open during those times and we will ask entry into the new
buildings to be through the school hallway doors adjacent to the kitchen and
Miss Limback’s room (inside the main school building). Please, no
access by crossing any fence lines (too many obstacles and possibly mud
if you cross a fence). You will be free to roam once inside and several folks
will be present to answer questions. Please be cognizant that this is a
construction site and all smaller children must be kept in check to avoid any
possible injuries – we want all to visit and enjoy the excitement but caution
that all must be careful while the site is open.
Thrive Next Week
Next week we welcome Thrive Best Choice to lead our Religion classes. Through this program, students will be involved in active discussions about setting goals, healthy relationships, puberty, and making God-pleasing decisions. Several of you attended the parent meeting in February. To help you prepare for discussions with your child at home, here are the topics for the week. I pray that you use these as opportunities to open the dialogue with your child and share your values with them. Research shows parents are still the number one influence on their teens!
Monday: Goals, Risky Behaviors, and Decision Making
Tuesday: Respect, Friendships, and Healthy vx. Unhealthy Relationships
Wednesday: Male/Female Puberty
Thursday: STDs
Friday: Media Influence, Boundaries, and Refusal Skills
Earth Day Clean Up
Our Social Studies class has been investigating transboundary pollution focusing on 3 major disasters in Europe: Chernobyl, the Black Triangle (air pollution) and the Tisa-Danube Cyanide spill. In response, on Earth Day we held a campus trash clean up. It was surprising to see what blows onto campus (and what was dumped in the woods!)
