On Monday and we got to play in the snow as long as you brought snow boots. On Tuesday we started reading the play Phantom Tollbooth. On Wednesday we had donuts with dads and a cool dads chapel service. on Thursday we had a transition math test, a geography test, and a small science test and snow is running low. On Friday we had the spelling bee- sadly both of are contestants Nathan Quentin got out.  Maiya in eighth grade won the spelling bee. Maiya will represent Zion Lutheran. In art we are learning Pop art.

From Mrs. R:

*  Next week Thursday is our Sheldon Field Trip to see/hear the Science of Music.
*  Watch for permission slips and further information to come home next week for the Ski Trip
*  Did you sign up for 7th grade?  Enrollment opens to the public next week.  Details are on Sycamore.

Class Highlights:

We have been studying Jesus' Sermon on the Mount with small group Bible study and students creating skits to apply Jesus' teachings to our lives today.  It was neat to see the kids taking God's Word to heart and finding ways that we might encourage one another to follow the Spirit of God's Law - showing the loving intentions of our loving Father.

In Second Step, Ms. Bethany Andrews has been guiding our discussions of bullying.  We've looked at physical and social bullying.  We talked about bystanders and strategies of using our assertive skills, looking at other's perspectives, and being empathetic.  We know in this sinful world, we are all guilty of treating someone unkindly.  With God's help we can all find a way to be part of the solution instead of the problem!   How wonderful it is that we can go to one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, help each other recognize a wrong, confess, and FORGIVE as Jesus forgives us!
