Week 35:

From the class bloggers:

May 14, 2021-Olivia K. and Grace I.

As the close of our school year is coming to a close, all of us are

getting antsy for summer vacation!  All throughout the week, hints of

summer, like warm weather, popped through.  All of the students are

enjoying projects about gravity, inertia, and energy in a water slide unit

in Science.  Our creativity is flowing freely in Literature, where we are

learning about Greek mythology, and we are discussing Latin America

in Social Studies.  Our electives have been chosen for the next year,

which included Leadership Development, choir, band, music, strings,

and Computer Science.  Although summer is on the horizon, we are

still soaking up the last bit of knowledge.

Field Day-
Friday, May 21 will be a department  Field Day.  JH will spend the afternoon playing outdoor games and enjoy fellowship with our classmates.  Students may wear spirit shirts and athletic bottoms to school that day.  Please send SUNSCREEN and a REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE.

PURPLE DAY is May 20th. Zion has a special friend named Julia who helps out in the kitchen. We are celebrating her birthday, and students are allowed to wear a purple shirt on Thursday May 20th

What's Happening in 6th grade:
Religion - witness of the Apostles in Acts and our own opportunities to witness.  Kids are writing devotions from Contemporary Christian songs.

Lit -  Oral Tradition - fables, folktales, and Greek Mythology to round out the year.

S.S. - Now that we have studied many parts of the world, we are looking at  Latin America and immigration.  We will discover the impact of different cultures on making America the country it is today.

G-Math - Geometry

T-Math - Ratios and Percents!  Hopefully we will become smart consumers as we figure out better buys, sale discounts, tax and tips.

Science - Waterslide project

English/Computer Science - Design our own computer game
