LENT BEGINS

For it is by GRACE you have been saved through faith and this is not from yourselves it is a gift of God, not a result of works so that no one can boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

Lent will begin this week with Ash Wednesday.  After our memory study of the Lord's prayer and how God cares for our every need, we now focus on Christ's amazing love for us -  that he would come to this earth and take our sins on the cross. During Lent I try to recommit myself to personal devotions and prayer.  This is a time to focus on Jesus and His great love for us.  Jesus gave His life so that I can live.

So instead of giving something up for Lent, I challenge my students to try doing the opposite and add something ... maybe commit to Wednesday night church, attend Sunday School, be a prayer partner with a classmate, do personal devotions, do family devotions, or make weekend worship a priority in your family.

I know your faith life will be strengthened.

Zion invites you to Lenten worship each Wednesday at 3:30 and 7:00. (Dinner served between services)
