As the 3rd semester begins, we welcome Austin Z. to our class. The students have been very friendly and helpful in learning the Zion routines.
Here are a few new units:
Religion - Heroes of the Old Testament. This week we learned of Deborah and Samson. See the Religion tab above for more details
English - Short Story unit - Mysteries. This is our second large writing project that we take through the steps of the writing process. One focus area is learning how to write and punctuate dialogue. Daily participation and step completion count for homework grades and the final story will be a test grade for English.
Social Studies - Monsoon Asia - this week we completed a mapping lab introducing this new part of the world. We will begin a climate study next as we start chapter 27.

This week in literature we have been working with plays like Gluskabe And Old Man winter, and The Phantom Tollbooth. We also have been working with microscopes with our Science unit of the cell theory.
