Week 21: Long Weekend!!

Sitting inside after the freezing rain yesterday and more expected tonight, this memory verse popped into my mind.

Isaiah 55:10-11 – For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word that goes out from my mouth;  it  shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. 

God cares for the earth as well as us, His beloved children!  Though ice and wintry weather may hinder our plans, they serve a purpose in replenishing the earth for the new season's growth.  And the precipitation can be a good reminder that through us - God's word will spread to the ends of the earth to claim more children as his own! We can be reminded of that as we continue support of Bibles for Belize with our chapel offerings this year! 


It was good to see so many dads at Donuts for Dads Wednesday morning.  Thank you for spend this special time with your child.  They might not use so many words, but they do appreciate you!

We do have enough drivers for our Ski Trip in February.  Thank you for all the parent volunteers.  More details including permission slips and skiers agreements will come out in the next weeks.

National Lutheran Schools Week is coming in 2 weeks, January 23 – 27.  The special dress days are:

Monday: P.J. Day
Wear pajamas/sweats
May bring one stuffed animal/pillow
May wear slippers (bring change of shoes for outside)

Tuesday: Fake Injury Day
Throw on your bandages and slings we are all broken today
No injuries that impair your ability to function and/or cause a mess (i.e. no fake blood)
Jeans optional

Wednesday: Character Day
Dress up as a favorite Bible, book, or movie character
Jeans optional

Thursday: Ultimate Spirit Day
Do you have the Spirit in you?
Wear your Red, White, and Black to show your Zion Lutheran School Spirit
Jeans optional

Friday: Holiday Day
Bring out your cheesy holiday gear and show your festive fun
Ideas: 4th of July, Easter, Christmas, Valentines Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving, or all of the above!

*Friday memory is due Tuesday.  Tuesday memory will be bumped to Wednesday
*S.S. news articles are still due on Tuesday (as students were informed this week).  Let your child know they can email me any questions they have.
