Week 4

By: Hannah B. and Aiden C.

This week has been a very exciting week. We had our second week of Second Step. We also had a week full of homework. This week we have learned about the walk-a-thon. The walk-a-thon is September 22. We can not wait till then. Our walk-a-thon is for a very good cause. Our money that we raise goes to the W.I.LL. foundation in China and the organization of Christian Friends of New Americans. Please donate if you can, if you can not donate that is fine. We definitely know that we cannot wait at all until next week. We hope that it is filled with fun like this week has been.

From Mrs. R

G Math - reviewed PEMDAS and began decimal operations.

T Math - spent a lot of time with PEMDAS and logged into  xtramath.org  for facts practice individualized to each student.  (G Math will start this next week).  Our first test is Monday over 1.1 -1.2 , Place Value (p.380) and basic operations.

You received a parent letter today with the option to login from home. (not required, but a great resource!!)  The more that facts can become an automatic habit, the easier math gets when we get more complicated problems.

Walkathon, Friday, Sept. 28

Our first JH Walkathon was held after Hurricane Katrina.  Now our students are joining efforts for two great causes.  50% of our donations will go to Angie Steinbacher and the WILL foundation and 50% will go towards Christian Friends of New Americans.   Kids learned about our walkathon at the kickoff assembly this morning.  We "cancel" classes for that Friday afternoon and set the kids loose to run and walk for the cause.  Students may begin raising pledges and are encouraged to self-pledge as well.  No money is due until after the walk.
