From the class bloggers:

September  12, 2019
On Monday we had a literature test on the short stories we read. On Tuesday we had a social
studies test. On Wednesday we had chapel. On Thursday we had a test in religion. On Friday
we finished coloring our Glue Fish and are starting a new art project about Escher.
If you are a girl check your gym bag to make sure that you don’t have Sarah’s gym shirt.

From Mrs. R.

We have been busy with tests and quizzes! Due to the October teacher's convocation we have a LONG FIRST QUARTER.   If you have not been on Sycamore yet to check grades, think of doing that in the next week and help your child reflect on his or her progress.  (Please give teachers until the school day ends on Monday to update scores from this week .  Also please ask your child first about a particular grade before contacting me, as they likely have information about it.

When Friday papers come home, encourage your child to pick the work they are most proud of and share with you why.   Also look for something which they might set a goal:  reading directions more carefully, studying vocabulary, asking questions in class, neater handwriting, taking an A.R. test.  Every child grows at a different pace and we can celebrate the learning that takes place each day!  Please don't hesitate to contact teachers with questions you may have.  Waiting until our Oct. 31 conference at the end of the quarter is not ideal if we can address a question sooner!

This week an electrician from Cuivre River came to talk to Science classes about energy.  Be sure to ask your child all about it!  Check Ms. Preusser's blog too!

Field Trip:  NEXT FRIDAY

Remember a COLD LUNCH  and RED ZION SHIRTS with jeans or school pants  (NOTE CHANGE:  SHORTS are OK - NO SKIRTS)  on Friday as we head to Weldon Spring Interpretive Center to learn about energy, environmental clean up, and stewardship of our natural habitats.  After a picnic lunch we head to Harvest Lanes to bowl.  Parent drivers meet outside in front of JH to meet your riders.  We depart by 8:40 to return to campus around 2:30 p.m.  Students will gather back in classrooms to wrap up our week.
