Charlotte and Hannah
This week was good! Nothing crazy happened this week, but we did
get to go into Mr. Maddicks classroom and Mrs. Crenshaw's room for
math and science! It was good. We had some choice days for the gym,
and Friday's schedule was very different. We had science in the
morning for g, and lots of other wacky things. Next week's schedule
will be crazy because of the best choice, so a wacky schedule for that
too! Overall we had a good week.
Best Choice starts Monday (repeat)
Next week, we welcome an educator from Best Choice to lead our Religion classes
in the afternoons. Through this program, students will be involved in active
discussions about setting goals, healthy relationships, puberty, and making
God-pleasing decisions. The Best Choice program is designed to encourage
children to make lifelong commitments to building relationships, making informed
choices, choosing abstinence before marriage, and avoiding risky behaviors.
Miss Dubberke and I will participate in the classes and continue follow up discussions. To help you prepare for discussions with your child at home, here are the topics Best Choice has used in the past. During the week of lessons, I will update you daily by email with our discussions. I pray that you use these as opportunities to open the dialogue with your child and share your values with them. Research shows parents are still the number one influence on their teens! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Monday: Goals, Risky Behaviors, and Decision Making
Tuesday: Respect, Friendships, and Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships, Refusal Skills

SAVE THE DATE - Wednesday, May 21 Lutheran Heritage Tour
***EXTENDED DAY 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.****
Our end of the year field trip will be an extended day trip to Perry County,
Missouri. We will have an opportunity to learn the history of some of the
earliest Lutherans to settle in America and how Veterans are honored. Our
trip will take us to:
Missouri National Veteran’s Memorial
1172 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, Perryville, MO
This is an exact replica of the D.C. Vietnam Memorial with an expanding war museum.
Students will learn about honoring veterans of all U.S. military branches.
Lutheran Heritage Center Museum 75 Church St. Altenburg, MO
& Saxon Lutheran Memorial
296 Saxon Memorial Dr. Frohna, MO
Here we will have an opportunity to not only learn history but also try typical chores
of the early pioneers on an historic homestead. Some possibilities are churning butter,
laundry, grinding corn, and trying carpentry tools.
