Week 4: Elections, Walkathon, and Chapel offerings

Hello this is Gavin W. and Alaynah B. This week has been pretty crazy with all of the tests and Stuco elections but only ten made it into the team. The positions we ran for where President and Secretary for the 8th graderz, the 7th graderz ran for Vice President, and finally the sixth graders (us) ran for treasurer. There was also a class rep for each class. It was fun to see how all of this went down, but the fun isn't over yet: the Junior High students have the walk-a-thon coming up really soon where we can have a good time and raise money for the USO. The USO is about helping people and doing good services. We hung out with the Kindergarten class last Friday to spot out letters in nature. We all had a blast doing that and having fun this week.

From Mrs. R - Our walkathon will be Thursday, Sept. 22 during the afternoon.  We had a guest speaker share information on the USO today and pledge sheets came home.  Ask your child what the USO does.  No collections are needed until after we walk.

Bibles for Belize

Our chapel offerings this year will be going to purchase children's Bibles for schools in Belize.  For our baptismal birthday, students will be receiving a Prayer doll.  In the tradition of the Mayan people, there are 12 worry dolls.  At night, people would tell their worries to each doll, then place them under their pillow where the worries would be taken away at night.  Christians have turned these into prayer dolls, knowing we CAN give our worries to God in prayer day or night and know that He will care for us.  How important it is for us to share the Good News of Jesus the savior to people who don't know him!
