Week 6: Buddy classes

Our week included Literature Circles discussing our AR books, sea-floor spreading simulation in Science, God's Covenant promise to Abraham, and the start of a new chapter on thematic maps and Global Information Systems in S.S.  We had TWO opportunities to serve our younger schoolmates as buddy helpers in Mrs. Hoehner's preschool and Mrs. Lail's kindergarten.  I was so impressed by your children as they took interest in their buddies, used encouraging words, and demonstrated patience and gentleness with our little friends.  ALL for ONE - serving the body of Christ!

Can you count with me?

Planning where to put the nails

Coloring our rainbow together

Letting our friend finish off each nail with a cheer for encouragement

Working together

Oh those glue bottles are hard to squeeze

Reading together when we finished our project

So glad I captured this sweet moment!

Telling stories, too

Friday in Mrs. Lail's class

We helped the class dress their body creations

Cutting fabric was tricky - you need extra hands

Kindergarten joke telling was quite entertaining

What a great afternoon meeting new friends!

English

This week in English we are continuing on with our first unit on the Sentence. We had our first English quiz and turned in our English notebooks for a grade. Next week we are planning on having a unit test. We are also beginning work on an adventure story and will polish that early next week. Students will share this story with classmates and at home by the end of next week.

We have finished up Spelling Unit 4 this week, and will begin Unit 5 next Monday.

Rebecca Dersch
