Week 26: What's New?

SPORTS TEAM PHOTOS - will be during the school day Wednesday.  Please be sure uniforms are sent to school that day.  Cheerleaders may come to school dressed for the photo.

No school Friday, March 5.   Our class is preparing a video that gives our grandparents and special friends "A Peek into 6th Grade".  We hope to have it done to send out next Friday.  Our Book Fair will take place in a virtual format this year.  Watch for information about dates.

What's new?

Religion -   Along with our study of Jesus ministry, we began using  Lenten devotions that show us our Uncustomary Christ  - who shows us unconditional love!

S.S.  Our class simulated the rate of population growth today and will now use China as a way to look at how countries meet the challenges of large and growing populations.  As demographers we will use a lot of statistics, including 2020 country data from our Junior Scholastic World Almanacs.

Math - G-Math is working on ratios and unit rates.  They are doing "online shopping" and hunting for bargains.  T-Math is getting into the meat of fraction operations.

Art - 1 point perspective:  Students are designing a room.

Lit. - We wrapped up our nonfiction study with a reflective essay by Helen Keller.  The class was amazed by news footage of how Helen learned to speak and read fingerspelling by touch.  They are reviewing our unit by focusning on one of our articles and analyzing all of its non-fiction elements.

English - RESEARCH PAPER begins next week!

Population Circle:  Kids each represent 250 million people joining the world's population from 1500 to the present.  How fast did we grow?
